You can unlock the vast majority of the tanks and upgrades play together as a team and play on all of the maps without spending any money at all. With only one life, and one tank to use, if you get blown up, it's game over to you, and you're sent back to the main menu - so being cautious, and working together as a team is essential. Unlike most online games, where it's often a case of every man for themselves, people tend to work together a lot more on World of Tanks, almost silently dividing themselves up into groups. Each game has a strict time limit, and takes place on a fairly small map.
